Indonesian way of living?

hello,
I've got a little problem I want to get to know indonesian culture and language but I dont know where to begin I'm indo european,,even though both of my parents had indonesian relatives they dont know anything about it( I find it out by looking on family trees searching relatives and asking for 2 years!)
but they seem they dont want to have anything to do with it,,cause when I only say indonesia they are already like shut up!anyway does somebody know where I can find about indonesian culture. and I'm learning bahasa indonesian..but I dont know indonesian people does somebody maybe know a communtiy???Cause I dont think my bahasa indonesia will work out without practising/talking

Will malaysians get offended if i speak Indonesian in Malaysia i dont know Bahasa Melayu?

I study bahasa Indonesia in aus and i am vsiting malaysia at end of year will malaysians get offended if i cant speak Bahasa Melayu properly

Quick Indonesian to English translation?

That should be "English to Indonesian translation". Sorry!
Is there an expression in Bahasa Indonesia that is equivalent to the English "you know" or "y'know"? Just looking for an Indo version of those verbal fillers that we use in daily conversation...

I have read somewhere that the phrase "gitu lho" might be appropriate but I don't know if this is correct.
